Abstract / Full Text

The results of a study of the anodic behavior of the chromium-doped Zn55Al alloy in HCl, NaCl, and NaOH electrolyte media at various pH values of the medium are presented. It is shown that for all samples of chromium-doped alloys, compared to the original Zn55Al alloy, there is a shift in the electrochemical potentials of corrosion, pitting, and repassivation to the region of positive values. Alloys containing 0.01–1.0 wt % chromium are the most resistant to pitting corrosion in the pH range of 3–10. It was established that the corrosion rate of alloys doped with (0.01–0.1%) chromium is 1.5–2 times lower than that of the Zn55Al alloy. Alloy corrosion products consist of a mixture of Al2O3, ZnO, ZnAl2O4, Al2O3·Cr2O3 oxides.
