The Effect of the Accepting Solution Composition on Electrodialytic Separation of Na+ and Ca2+ Ions (A Numerical Experiment)

The possibility of using a homogeneous model for a membrane of ideal selectivity, when simulatingelectrodialysis systems in which a cation-exchange membrane is in contact with the solutions of medium andlow ionic strength (less than 0.01–0.02 M) is shown by numerical calculations with the finite difference method.At highly concentrated solutions washing the membrane, allowing for the membrane nonideality is necessaryeven in terms of the homogeneous model.
