The role of the localization and nature of electrochemically generated cations on the products’ composition and yield of the electrophilic fluorosulfation of tetrafluoroethylene during the electrooxidation of aromatic compounds on a platinum electrode in fluorosulfuric acid in the presence of tetrafluoroethylene is revealed.
