Depending on the conditions of electrolysis, electrochemical reduction of dielement compounds ofsulfur and selenium (diaryl and dialkyl sulfides and selenides) in the presence of ketones or aldehydes and trimethylchlorosilane yields different products: trimethylsilyl esters, hemithio(seleno)acetals of ketones and aldehydes or full thio(seleno)acetals.
