Abstract / Full Text

The photoelectric effect on a hydrogen atom located in an extremely strong magnetic field is considered. The dependence of the cross section on the angle between the photon momentum and the magnetic field strength vector (direction of free motion of the emitted electron) is investigated. It is shown that in the presence of a magnetic field the character of the dependence of the cross section on this angle is substantially altered. The dependence of the cross section on the photon energy is examined and it is shown that near the reaction threshold it is necessary to take into account the interaction of the electron with the nucleus of the hydrogen atom.
